Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted to an attendance of twenty two members and one guest.
The topics of U.S. Large Cents and their counterparts, British Large Pennies presented by members were: 1819 and 1853 cents found while metal detecting, a large cent collection in progress, and assorted examples of large pennies with English monarchs during their reigns.
Slabbed coins from NGC, PCI, ANACS and PCGS, displayed by members were a 1652 pine tree shilling, Morgan dollars including a rainbow toned example, 1920 Pilgrim commemorative half dollar and a silver eagle.
Paper collectibles included vintage comic books, a book on Abraham Lincoln and rarely seen photos of him, New York Daily News paper of the Challenger disaster, old magazines circa 1930’s found in a garage and were offered to members to take, and currency of the world along with postage stamps.
Other collectibles presented were a “Last Frontier” medal from the Alaskan Mint, model tanks from WW2 and earlier, an Emerson 45 rpm record player, and a variety of collectibles from a new member seeking advice on her items.
The next meeting, December 16, will be our annual Holiday Party complete with sandwiches, cake, coffee, and do bring your own “drinking” refreshments.
The topics will be: Toys, Games, Half Dollars, Flying Eagle and Indian Head cents, and Items for Sale.
