The minutes were read and accepted to an attendance of sixteen members.
The topics for the month were represented with odd type coins including: a three cent silver collection, which was the smallest size of U.S. silver coins, and a $500 McKinley Federal Reserve note circa 1928 & 1934. Ancient coins presented were Greek and Roman silver and bronze pieces of: an Alexander the great drachm circa 330BC, Constantine the great and other bronze follis coins. A Birth year item was: a card with 1941 happenings including a stamped first day cover.
Show & Tell was a talk on copper nickel Flying eagle, Indian cents, and two cent pieces, a menu from the ’50’s on all you can eat at a restaurant for $3.75, and a military model tank collection of friend and foe.
Before the coffee break and raffle, Paul presented a power point program on “Colonial and post colonial coins and tokens”, 1641 – 1797, and explained their designs, slogans and a brief history of them. We hope to have other programs of this type from not only guest speakers, but from our own members to share their collectibles with us. Please inform us at a previous meeting if you would like to participate in our programs.
The next meeting will be November 20th and the topics are: SEATED LIBERTY COINS, ITEMS ON THE U.S. NAVY, COINS OF OUR ANCESTORS, AND OTHER ODD PIECES.
