Minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted to an attendance of eighteen members and one guest. Latest coin shows and conventions were discussed including members who attended the Parsippany show and the Florida United Numismatist Convention in Orlando Florida, which they reported were well attended. An upcoming event announced was an exhibit on the works of Augustus St. Gaudens at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The topics of the month exhibited included an album collection of large vintage U.S. notes, Civil War fractional currency, a Confederate States of America $10 note, and various silver certificates and star notes. Modern commemorative pieces shown was a 2019 Apollo silver dollar and half dollar, 1986 Ellis Island half dollar, and a silver dollar from the 1983/84 Los Angeles Olympics.
Animals on coins and medals displayed were a cougar on a silver round, a Bald Eagle 3 piece silver and gold set, an Australian 1964 kangaroo one cent, 1641 Dutch Lion Dollar, 1786 New Jersey copper featuring a horse.
We then broke for refreshments and after continued on with other items presented. A member displayed and explained the story of a coin from one of Mel Fishers sunken treasure ships, a collection of capped bust half dimes, and a 2019 W Lincoln cent (the first cent minted at West Point).
Other collectibles consisted of: beer bottles shaped like baseball bats, a vintage radio featuring carvings of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, two novelty portable radios, and a book bound set of Life Magazines starting from 1936.
