The minutes of the last meeting were read and accepted to an attendance of eighteen members and two guests. A general discussion included visits to collectible shows the previous month and other topics of interest. Our clubs’ annual Christmas and Holiday party on December 17 was tabled and specified that only dues paying members would be invited to attend. We then received dues from new members for this year and next year.
Topics of the month included Washington quarters which were represented from members with; slabbed 1963 and 1964 pieces, key dates 1934D and 1934S, a silver bullion 5oz. Montana National Park quarter, complete sets of George Washington state and regular sets were also displayed.
In honor of Armistice Day, military examples shown were a 3″ U.S. Mint medal commemorating the 1942 Doolittle Raiders, model tanks, and other miscellaneous militaria. Proof and Mint sets, another topic, were presented as well as coins from South America.
Other member collectible discussions were on error coins, two mercury dimes found in rolls, a pre-WWI collection of post cards, and a continuing report on a member assessing another members large cent collection, and a guest who needed information on a vintage Admiral clock radio.
The next meeting, December 17, will be the holiday party and the topics will be: Walking Liberty Halves, Classic Commemorative Halves (1892-1954), coins or currency from the Pacific Islands and other old holiday items.
